3 Must-See National Parks in the Western United States

There are countless gorgeous national parks spanning all across the United States. From certified mountain climbers to the average tourist, millions of people flock to these areas each year for their raw beauty and challenging terrain. This article focuses on some of the top rated parks in the western hemisphere of the US.

#1 Zion National Park

Location: Utah

Zion National Park is located near Springdale, Utah and spreads over 230 miles. This beautiful park includes mountains, canyons, rivers, buttes, and natural arches. It attracts outdoor adventurers every year for the hiking, biking, and rock climbing benefits. Zion has resorts and cabins located inside and around the edges of the park, so you can feel immersed in mother nature during your stay.

#2 Grand Canyon National Park

Location: Arizona

The Grand Canyon in Arizona is known for its breathtaking layers of red rock which reveal millions of years of geological history. Unique combinations of geologic color and erosional forms decorate a canyon that is 277 river miles (446km) long, up to 18 miles (29km) wide, and a mile (1.6km) deep. There are no roads across the canyon, so when planning your trip to this beautiful land mark, you must decide between the North Rim and South Rim. Both provide the same outdoor adventures, such as, white water rafting, rock climbing, hiking, and even mule trips.

#3 Yosemite National Park

Location: California

Yosemite National park is located in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. First protected in 1864, the park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, and much more. Camping, hiking, biking, and climbing are extremely common here but if you want to stop by just for a day trip in the park, then make sure to check out Yosemite Village. Yosemite Village has shops, restaurants, lodging, a museum, and an art gallery. You are truly immersed in nature when visiting Yosemite, so don’t be surprised if you spot any bears in the area.

Hopefully you enjoyed this article! If your trying to decide which park to visit for your next vacation, any of those listed would be a great choice. If lush greenery is what you favor, then Zion would be the best choice, following behind would be Yosemite, then the Grand Canyon. But if breathtaking terrain and caverns is what you enjoy, then the Grand Canyon would suit your needs. Please click on the location link in each national park section if you need more information on where to stay, what to do, and how to get there.

Happy Adventures!
